Our Story…

 

More on the “how and why” by telling you the beginnings of Headsets Direct.

 

While working for a company that repaired electronic equipment for companies large and small, we began to learn about those companies by the types of equipment they used.  We began to wonder why, for example, the bigger the company, the more headsets they seemed to use.  And most of the smaller customers weren’t using headsets at all.  Were headsets too expensive for small companies to afford?  No. It wasn’t true then and it certainly isn’t true now.

It seemed that all the headset manufacturers were focused on educating and selling to the larger companies.  That’s when we decided to do the same for small businesses – – to become an expert in providing education and headsets for small business.

That was 1996, and to our knowledge no company offers our level of expertise, inventory, customer service and discount pricing specifically designed to serve small business and small agencies.

That’s the why but what about the how? Well, starting in 1996 we had no customers, inventory or sales.  But we did have a belief, ‘Take care of customers and the money will take care of itself’.

As you get to know us, we believe this will ring true.  The people you’ll talk to all love what they do – – helping others and each other.  And by the way, when you call, you’ll talk to a person, not a recording.

We don’t have salespeople on a commission.  We have headset experts on a mission – a mission to make the workplace a better place by helping people become more productive and better communicators.

We may recommend the best headset for your application.  We may answer a setup or installation question.  We may even follow up with a phone call or email to make sure your new headset is performing as expected.

We also have one of the largest inventories available specifically for small business. Our inventory level is clearly marked for each product we sell, and over 90% of our orders are shipped the same day.

Is it working?  Well, we’ve had to move into larger facilities twice since 1996 to add people and inventory as our customers have grown.  And we kept our work environment comfortable and professional.  Far away from a stuffy, corporate culture, and just as far away from the crazy startup mentality that tries to make sense out of catered food, Ping-Pong tables and dry cleaning.
