This is a very comfortable headset, and I bought two - one for my office and another for my home-based phone.  The one attached to my Polycom phone works fine even without an amplifier.  Surprisingly, the one hooked into my Meridian phone has some volume problems, in that people routinely say they can barely hear me.  An amplifier may be needed, and I will try that as my next step.
