Why Mobile Phone Headsets?
Headsets are a versatile and affordable choice for hands-free cell phone
use. They provide mobility, comfort, and a level of sound quality that makes
them an excellent partner for emerging voice-activated dialing services — all at
the most reasonable price among hands-free options. Headsets suit today’s active
lifestyle. They offer hands-free use and versatility to help you keep in touch
wherever you are.
• You’re truly mobile — from place to place and from task to task.
• Over-the-head, over-the-ear, in-the-ear, and convertible styles let you choose
a model that keeps you comfortable while on the go.
Hear and Be Heard
With the right headset, your voice will be clearer to the person on the
other end of the phone. And you will hear conversations more clearly.
• Headsets deliver premium sound quality and clarity because the microphone can
be positioned close to your mouth.
• As voice-driven applications become more prevalent, using a quality headset
with a noise-canceling microphone that can transmit voice commands accurately
will become essential.
• We all value our privacy. With a headset, you can enjoy conversations that are
intended just for you.

As you may be aware:
New York State recently passed the first statewide ban in the US prohibiting
cell phone use while driving, unless using a hands-free device. Effective
November 1, 2001, drivers are required to use a hands-free device, such as a
headset or car speakerphone, while talking and driving. Although New York is the
first state to pass such a ban, legislation is being considered in most other
states, and in many other countries.
Developing a Corporate Policy:
Many corporations are adopting policies and guidelines regarding cell phone
use while driving, often as part of a larger employee care program. Safety and
comfort of employees is a key concern; establishing a policy and providing the
proper solution go a long way toward employee satisfaction. In establishing a
corporate policy on cell phone use while driving, there are two realistic
options:
1. Allow employees to use their own discretion with cell phone use while
driving. While easy to implement, it may be difficult to keep all employees
aware of changing laws throughout the country. For employees traveling
internationally, keeping track of different requirements is even more difficult.
2. Adopt a policy that mandates hands-free use of cell phones while driving, and
implement a program to provide the hands-free device, be it a headset or car
speakerphone. This allows companies to standardize their purchasing and realize
substantial savings in material and support costs.
Any policy should include driver safety tips
for employees:
If you need to make a call, in many cases you should pull over. But when local
legislation and road conditions permit and when you are in the right state of
mind, using a hands-free device such as a headset while driving makes sense. New
services like voice-activated dialing make car cell phone use even safer because
you can keep both hands free to operate the vehicle and keep your eyes on the
road at all times.
Basic Safety Tips:
• Do not drive and use a handheld cell phone at the same time.
• If you must use a cell phone while driving, use a hands-free device, like a
headset.
• Don’t have stressful or emotional conversations while driving.
• Use voice-activated dialing services or the “speed dial” feature.
• Do not take notes while driving.
• Keep your eyes on the road and both hands free to operate the vehicle.
What to Look For in Mobile Phone Headsets:
A headset should enable your employees to be productive when using their
cell phones. To do so, it needs to have key features to meet individual needs:
• Sound Quality: a headset should allow the user’s voice to be heard clearly on
the other end, and conversations should come through clearly to the user.
• Style: Headsets should be offered in a range of styles, including
over-the-head, over-the-ear, or in-the-ear.
If an
employee has a choice of styles, they are more likely to use the headset.
• Comfort: A key consideration, and answered by offering a range of styles.
Why
Plantronics Mobile Phone
Headsets?
With forty years of experience creating headsets that deliver high-quality
sound, comfort, and fit,
Plantronics is the industry leader because we make
communicating easier and more effective — from call centers and mission control
centers to mobile communications and the latest in speech recognition
applications. Plantronics’ success comes from putting the customer in the
driver’s seat. Our M-Series mobile headsets let you keep both hands where they
belong — on the wheel — so you can communicate in a safe, focused manner.
Plantronics also understands that no two sets of ears are alike: we thoroughly
research and develop headsets for style, fit, and stability, resulting in the
broadest and most comfortable product line on the market. Our “wall of ears” —
made up of molds from the hundreds and hundreds of ears we’ve used to design our
headsets — is testimony to our diligence in this area. Comfort is a personal
preference. But we’ve gone out of our way to make sure our headsets are as
comfortable as possible to as many users as possible. Plantronics offers a range
of mobile headsets, and has been picked as the headset provider for a number of
large corporations throughout the world.
Key benefits of Plantronics mobile
headsets include:
Clear Voice Transmission: All M-Series headsets provide superior sound quality.
Plantronics boom-style headsets incorporate noise-canceling microphones that
significantly reduce background noise. The earbud-style
Plantronics
M205 mobile phone headset incorporates a Hemholz Resonator, to
transmit your voice more accurately. Whichever Plantronics model you choose,
your voice will be heard clearly. Plantronics technology also enhances speech
accuracy and makes an M-Series headset a natural partner for emerging voice
applications, such as voice-activated dialing and voice-activated web portals.
Recent tests showed that Plantronics M-Series products performed higher than
other headsets in terms of background
noise and voice recognition.
Plantronics headsets with noise-canceling
microphones exhibit five times less background noise than the products against
which they were tested.
•
Static-free Calls: Plantronics’ RF noise shield — a filter on the microphone and
shielded microphone cable — blocks out radio frequency static.
• One-touch
Controls: Plantronics M-Series headsets may have in-line controls, depending on
the model, to easily answer or end calls, activate voice-dialing features, and
mute and control volume with the touch of a button.
• OSHA Requirements:
Plantronics headsets have been designed with safety features that limit
impulsive and continuous noise exposure to a level below OSHA-mandated noise
maximums.
• Hearing Aid Compatibility: All M-Series headsets, except the
in-the-ear styles, are compatible with telecoilequipped hearing aids — extending
the benefits of hands-free communications to the hearing impaired.
