I need a corded telephone headset to use at home and sometimes in the office.

July 28th, 2010 Dwayne No comments

When it comes to a corded telephone headset, we have a few different options and models to choose from.  A corded telephone headset will also require either an amplifier or bottom cable to connect to the actual telephone, the phone make and model will determine which amplifier or cable is needed.  All of the Plantronics regular corded telephone headsets are called the “H-series” and are considered to be commercial grade which can be used in the office, however they can also be used at home as well.  These commercial grade corded telephone headsets are just better quality than the inexpensive models that are typically found at some of the retail stores, and they will also usually have a longer manufacturer’s warranty.  The H-series corded telephone headset will have the Plantronics proprietary “Quick Disconnect” plug on the end of the cable, which is a flat rectangular connection that looks similar to a USB and will not directly plug into any device, that is why it is important to also get the proper compatible amplifier or cable for your particular application.

Although a  Plantronics corded telephone headset and amplifier are pretty universal and will work great with most single and multi-line corded telephones and systems, it’s still always a good idea to check compatibility.  To check the compatibility of your individual phone model, we have a link on our website called “Compatibility Guide Product Finder”, this is the Plantronics Compatibility Guide which will allow you to choose your phone make and model and it will determine if your phone requires an amplifier or a bottom cable to connect a corded telephone headset.  Another thing to consider is the environment that you will be working in, is it quiet or is there a lot of background noise going on around you?  The Plantronics corded telephone headsets have a couple of different versions, voice tube models for quiet areas and models with noise canceling microphones for noisy areas.  A noise canceling microphone on a corded telephone headset blocks out background noise going on around you so that your caller doesn’t hear everything so vividly.  Please keep in mind that they won’t block out everything, but they usually take care of most of the distractions, and some of the corded telephone headset microphones do block out more than others.  So please consider your corded telephone headset microphone type, and choose accordingly.

Now that you have determined what it takes to connect your corded telephone headset to your phone and you know what type of environment it will be used in, just choose one that looks comfortable for you.  We have various styles such as over the head, over the ear, and some models called “convertible” that give you both wearing styles.  Hopefully this helps to get you well on your way to finding a corded telephone headset for you to use in the office and at home.  No matter where your work takes you, we’ve got the perfect corded telephone headset just for you.

With so many headset choices, here’s some help to get you started!

Problem: My boss has decided to purchase headsets so we can be more productive, better able to multitask, and hopefully avoid neck, shoulder and back problems from cradling our telephone handsets while trying to use the computer.  However there are so many different headset styles and we have 6 employees to try to please!  What do you suggest?

HeadsetsSolution: Choices, choices, choices . . . sometimes it’s difficult to make the right decision.  When you are trying to purchase headsets for a number of people and you would like to please everyone, the safest way may be to order convertible headsets.  So what exactly is a convertible headset?   It is a headset that can be worn multiple ways.  It comes with both a headband and an ear loop, which means your employees can choose which style is most comfortable for them.  A third wearing option is to order an accessory neckband which is worn behind the head.

Plantronics has several convertible corded headsets to choose from.  The S12 is a consumer grade headset & amplifier system designed for budget conscious companies, or individuals working from home.  Consumer grade headsets are good quality, affordable and they are complete plug and play systems.

For companies interested in higher quality and more durable units, we have two commercial grade headset models to choose from.  The H141 is the most popular and you can order it with a voice tube or with the noise cancelling microphone (H141N).  The second option is the H171 and it also comes with either a voice tube or a noise cancelling microphone (H171N).  The H171 has a unique headband that comes with two temple pads, one on each side, rather than the typical headband that has a temple pad on one side and an ear cushion on the opposite side.  Please note that with all of our commercial grade headsets you will also need to order either an amplifier or a bottom cable so that you can plug into your phone.

Today’s wireless headsets provide crystal clear communication and the ability to answer and end your calls when you are away from your desk! Plantronics manufactures two wireless headsets which are convertible, the CS55 and the Savi WO100.  The CS55 is the most popular headset we carry! Not only is It convertible, it also offers excellent clarity and tone quality.    The Savi W0100 plugs into your computer through the USB port and also plugs into your office phone.  This convertible unit allows you to switch back and forth between your phone and using VOIP software on your computer with just the push of a button.

Headsets Direct can help you find the right choice for you and your employees.  We offer a 60 day satisfaction guarantee, so if you need to exchange a unit for a different model, we will be happy to do that for you.  If you prefer a refund on your purchase price( less the shipping) we will be happy to accommodate your wishes.  At Headsets Direct our technicians are trained to ask the right questions to find out what your specific needs are, and to provide you with the information you need to make the best decision for your company.

I’m just a small one-man operation and a Plantronics headset is quite an investment. Do I really need a headset?

Question: What types of businesses really buy headsets?  I mean, I’m just a small one-man operation and a headset is quite an investment.  Do I really need a headset?

Answer: Well, aside from all the reports on the safety and ergonomic benefits of headsets, (click here for ergo benefits), they really do help you conduct your business in a more efficient manner.

Here are some of the businesses that buy our headsets:

Doctors, lawyers and accountants, oh my!  Auto parts stores, mechanics, bikers, hang gliders, L.A. commuters and even that granny from Pasadena.  Museums, manufacturing plants, distribution warehouses, Texas ranchers who need to stay connected on their thousand-acre spreads, Starbucks® coffee drinkers, massage parlors, the I.R.S. and every branch of government…and yes, even that backbone of American enterprise, the one-to-five-person small business operation.

And don’t forget…you can count it as a business expense.

October 2nd, 2009 Dwayne No comments

Q: We need to hook the H261N headset to our computers. Is this all we need to do this? Plantronics 28959-01 Computer Soundboard Cable for H-Series Headsets?

A: Yes that is correct, the cable 28959-01 is all that you need to connect the headset to the computer.    And if you need to connect through the USB port, you can use the Plantronics DA40, DA45 or DA60 USB adapter.

Help? Will the Plantronics CS55/HL10 work with either a digital or analog phone system?

August 27th, 2009 Alfred No comments

Q: Will my Plantronics CS55/HL10 work with either a digital or analog phone system?

A: With the CS55/HL10 combination you will be connecting the wireless headset base to the phone where the handset is connected.  Think of it as a wireless extension of your handset. By reconnecting your handset to the front of your wireless headset base you now have a choice between headset and handset.

This will work with either a digital phone, like Cisco or Nortel, or an analog phone, like Avaya Partner or what you would have at home. Remember, if you are using this at home, your phone cannot have remote cordless units or any features on the handset.

Plantronics Calisto Pro Troubleshooting- Pairing with a new headset

Pairing with a new headset: Your Plantronics Calisto Pro can be used with other Plantronics Bluetooth headsets. You can pair only one headset at a time with the Calisto handset. Please note that other headsets may not behave the same or offer all the same features as the Calisto headset.

2. Use the navigator to scroll down and highlight Initial Setup, and press Select (right soft key).

3. Highlight Headset/Base, and press Select (right soft key).

4. Highlight Pair New Headset, and press Select (right soft key).

5. Select either of the following options:

Remove Headset: To manually remove a headset, highlight this option, press Select

(right soft key), and then press Delete (right soft key).

Pair Headset: To pair with a new headset, or to re-pair with your original headset if the icon is

consistently displayed on the screen (see “Troubleshooting” on page042 of the user guide), highlight this option, press Select (right soft

key), and follow the onscreen instructions. The steps are the same as in “Pairing your Calisto headset with your mobile phone” on page 12 (see steps 2 and 4).

Q: Will my Voyager 510S work on my computer ?

November 14th, 2008 Wayne No comments

A:   Yes. And since the Voyager 510 headset is Bluetooth, there are a few possibilities. The first option which is the most cost effective and easiest way is of course if you have a newer computer that has Bluetooth built in, then all you have to do is pair it up. Our 2nd option is that you can purchase a USB Bluetooth adapter such as the Plantronics BUA-100, this adapter will plug into a usb port on your computer and will pair up to your 510 headset. This is a nice clean solution because it is “plug, pair, and play”… And you won’t have to add another cable to the collection that you already have on your desk. Our 3rd option is to use our Headsets Direct PC/Phone headset switch (05344-42). Now this is a corded solution that will connect your 510S base to your computer and your telephone. This will not be as seamless to use as a USB Bluetooth adapter, but the advantage to this option is that it will connect almost any of the Plantronics wireless and corded systems to your computer, and it will even let you use your regular telephone handset if you would. So check out the options on our website, and of course we are only a phone call away to answer any questions that you may have.

Q: Is the Replacement Headset for the Plantronics CS50 and CS55 the same Headset?

November 7th, 2008 Wayne No comments

No. They look alike but the Plantronics CS50 is wired just for that unit and the Plantronics CS55 is wired just for that unit. If you purchase the incorrect headset it will not link up with your base. We offer a 60 Day Money Back Guarantee.
