Problem: I just bought this newfangled cordless phone for my home that has the latest Dect 6.0 wireless digital technology.  It does everything short of polishing your shoes!  I know some of the older models used 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz frequency profiles and headsets worked fine with them but now we have Dect 6.0.  What cordless phone headset can I use for my phone?

Solution: Well, it’s not as complicated as you might think but before we talk about headsets for your cordless phone, we want to briefly highlight Plantronics’ cordless phone with a headset, the CT14.

What are some of the features of this nifty cordless phone?  Well, it’s a convertible headset – headband and ear loop included.  It has a maximum 300 foot range and the Dect 6.0 (1.9 GHz) digital technology so you can talk continuously for 10 hours on the rechargeable battery.  Installation is easy since it plugs into any standard telephone jack.  The remote unit includes a dial pad (Note: This unit does not have Speed Dial like earlier versions) and the base has a headset stand.  It supports Caller ID / Call Waiting (must subscribe with telephone company) and comes with a 1-year warranty.  Perhaps this may be just what you’re looking for so click Plantronics CT14 and check out what our cordless phone with headset, the CT14, has to offer.

Now, what about headsets for your Dect 6.0 cordless phone?  Our top of the line model headset for cordless phones would be the CS55H.  It’s a wireless headset and works with most, if not all, single line analog phone systems.

Here are some other features of the CS55H:  Hands-free freedom up to 300 feet, and up to 10 full hours of talk time.  It offers one-touch control over call answer/end, volume and mute.  Enjoy all-day comfort with interchangeable ear loops or headband options.  The voice-dedicated 1.9GHz frequency limits wireless interference and the noise-canceling microphone filters out background noises.  It also carries the Plantronics 1-Year warranty. For more click Plantronics CS55H.

When it comes to attached headsets for your cordless phone, it’s not that difficult.  This link contains the headsets that will work with your cordless phone: Cordless Phone Headsets.  I invite you to check all our models on the site but for now I will highlight a couple of different wearing styles.

M175C:  It has a 2.5mm connection for Mobile/Cellular/Cordless Phones.  It’s a convertible – wear as a headband or over the ear.  It features optimal voice clarity with noise-canceling microphone.  It has enhanced sound with microphone adjust switch and includes volume and mute control.  It comes with a 1-year warranty.

MX500C:  Made specifically for cordless phones and compatible with most of them (2.5mm jack).  In-the-ear design for stable fit.  Wind noise reduction technology.  It also features a microphone volume switch.  It also comes with a 1-year warranty.

Replacing the Plantronics CT12 with the Plantronics CT14 cordless telephone headset

Problem: Several years ago I purchased a Plantronics CT12 cordless headset phone that I use in my home office and I love it. However, my CT 12 is getting old, and I am considering getting a two line phone for my office. Is there a unit similar to mine that will work with a two line phone?

plantronics-ct14-cordless-telephone-headsetSolution: Well, I have both good news and bad news for you. The good news is that Plantronics developed an updated cordless headset phone called the CT14. The Plantronics CT14 cordless telephone provides the user with about 300 feet of roaming distance (the size of a football field), compared to the older units with only 150 feet of roaming distance. Plus, it has been upgraded from a 2.4 GHz frequency to the 1.9 GHz voice dedicated 6.0 DECT technology, which means less chance of interference. In addition, our new improved cordless headset phone provides twice the talk time as the older CT12 model! The Plantronics CT14 cordless telephone offers the ability to place your caller on hold and use Call Waiting, Caller ID and Telephone Messaging, providing you subscribe to those services through your phone company. If you have these features, you may not need that second phone line. Plantronics also improved the design of the mobile phone pad that you clip to your waistband or belt. You will find the display is easier to read, the buttons on the dial pad are a little larger and the clip on the back of the phone pad is sturdy, but smooth, offering a more comfortable and secure fit.

The bad news for some of our customers is that the CT14 is designed specifically for single line phone systems. There is only one multi-line phone system that the CT14 cordless headset phone is compatible with, and that is the Avaya Partner phones. If you happen to have an Avaya Partner multi line phone system, this unit works just great with it, and the price is very reasonable for the convenience of being totally mobile. There are two features that the CT14 does not have that the CT12 did: (1) the CT12 came with a “Firefly Headset” so the tip of the microphone would light up to let people know you were on the phone and (2) it also offered a speed dial feature. Although the CT14 does not have speed dial, you can put approximately 70 contacts in the CT14 dial pad phone book. Consequently, if you have been happy with the CT12 you should be quite impressed with the CT14, because you are doubling your roaming distance and talk time, plus the new design makes it even easier to use! Although the Plantronics CT12 and Plantronics CT14 systems look alike, they do use different headsets.  The CT12 headset (part # 64378-01) has a red light on the end of the microphone that illuminates when in use (on a call), the remote unit sends an “electronic pulse” to the headset which makes this happen.  Other headsets, including the CT14 headset (part # 81083-01), will “technically” work with the CT12 system, but we only recommend using the actual CT12 replacement headset.  When using any other headset besides the original on a CT12 (including the CT14), you will more than likely hear the electronic pulsating sound fading in and out, and you could possibly also have a buzzing issue as well.

Problem: My Plantronics 10U100 wireless headset stopped working, what can I replace it with?

Solution: The Plantronics CT14.  The 10U100 was typically used with the Avaya Partner phones, such as the 18D and 34D models.  The CT14 would be the closest model replacement for the older discontinued 10U100 system.  The CT14 has a slimmer and more modern design with longer range (300ft) and talktime (10hrs), while still having the basic features of being able to answer, dial and transfer calls when used with the Avaya Partner 18D & 34D phones.  And because the CT14 plugs into the “AUX” (auxillary) jack on the bottom of the phone, the HL10 Handset Lifter is not required for remote one-touch answering.

Q:  I have been using the 10U100 wireless headsets with my Avaya Partner phones.  I know they have been discontinued;  do you have anything else that is similar that will work with my phones?

A:  Yes-you can use the new Plantronics CT14 with your phones.  It is a convertible headset and it has the DEC 6.0 (1.9 gig) technology plus it offers twice the roaming distance as the 10U100!
