You get in your car on a cold snowy morning, turn the key to start the engine and…the battery is dead! You’re at your daughter’s wedding reach for the camera to take those special pictures and…the battery is dead! You grab your headset to answer the phone and close that big million dollar deal when…the battery is dead! No doubt your response to all three scenarios is the same…why now!?! (Sorry, but we can’t print what you really want to say).
Yes, a healthy fully-charged and long-lasting battery is essential in so many situations. At Plantronics that need has not fallen on deaf ears. Ever since they entered the field of wireless communication, Plantronics has strived to provide a battery to meet the demands of the busy professional on the go. Their first attempts were fairly large and cumbersome external batteries (oh, how they would always catch on things and fall off at that critical juncture in a conversation) but they were not deterred. As technology advanced so did Plantronics’ efforts to come up with a compact unobtrusive battery that would provide the maximum talk time customers needed for their headsets. What they came up with was the 64399-01 lithium-ion battery, a battery for all reasons when it comes to Plantronics wireless headsets. Easy to disconnect and connect, the 64399-01 battery, along with the Plantronics’ low-battery early warning system, won’t leave you silent in the middle of that important call.

Of course, we are talking about the ever popular Plantronics CS55 headset, the “gold standard” of wireless headsets. As we all know, the Plantronics CS55 headset was itself an upgrade from the original CS50 which quickly gained in popularity from the day it burst on the telecommunication scene in 2004. Just like cruise control revolutionized driving ease, the CS50 revolutionized hands-free communication, a truly wireless headset. With cutting edge technology for its time and one of the best sounding headsets in the industry, the CS50 became the “gold standard” in wireless headsets.
Then, to meet the demand of advancing technology and remain the benchmark of wireless communication, in 2006 Plantronics released the CS55 headset. What made the Plantronics CS55 headset so popular among business professionals, the home office entrepreneur, the busy medical office, or just about anyone who wanted wireless freedom? In a word (okay, maybe more): flexibility, durability and performance. Like its predecessor, the Plantronics CS55 headset also incorporated the latest technology into its versatile styling. One of the first wireless headsets to incorporate Dect 6.0 technology for uninterrupted communication, the CS55 headset became the “gold standard” or benchmark others were measured to. For the past five years the CS55 has been the most popular wireless headset Plantronics has ever made.
However, technology stands still for no man…or electronic device. So, after five years of being at the top of the wireless market, it was time for the Plantronics CS55 headset to get a makeover. This year, from the floor of the stock exchange, Plantronics announced a major makeover of its wireless line, including the CS55 headset. The new CS540, with a distance of 350 feet and all the latest sound innovations, such as advanced wide-band audio using CAT-iq technology for high-definition voice quality, is sure to raise the bar yet again in wireless communication.

Q: I’m using a Plantronics CS50 wireless headset and handset lifter. I no longer get the beep notification for incoming calls. Is something wrong with my CS50?
A: It is the handset lifter that actually picks up the ring tone from the telephone, and not the CS50 itself. The first thing that you want to do is make sure that the ring tone or ring volume didn’t change on the phone, because this could throw off how the lifter ”hears” it. Also, I’m not sure which lifter your user has.. if it’s the larger HL1 (this one has a base that the phone sits on), there is a sensitivity adjustment on the back of the lifter. If is the smaller HL10 which sticks onto the phone (and should be positioned over the speaker grill where the ring tone comes out of the phone), the internal mic may have stopped working and that could be why it doesn’t hear the ring anymore. If you have the HL10, you can try using a ring detector cable, this is a little accessory that should have come with your lifter (it looks like a wire with a small speaker on the end of it with double-sided tape). Plug this into the back of the HL10 (there are 2 jacks back there but it will only fit in one, you may need to remove the rubber plug), then stick the little speaker over the speaker grill on the telephone. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the lifter. Here is a link below with a picture to take a look at the ring detector.

The bottom of the base will have a white sticker starting with “B” for base. This is followed by a letter representing the Month (A=January, B=February…) and a number representing the Year (05=2005).

No. They look alike but the Plantronics CS50 is wired just for that unit and the Plantronics CS55 is wired just for that unit. If you purchase the incorrect headset it will not link up with your base. We offer a 60 Day Money Back Guarantee.
