Calisto™ Pro with Mac Issue – From Plantronics

September 15th, 2009 Wayne No comments

We have discovered an issue between Calisto Pro wireless headset firmware and Mac OS 10.5.7 (and later versions) that causes sound quality of Skype calls to deteriorate approx. 5-15 minutes into a call. This is not an issue caused by the Calisto Pro, but by changes that were made in the new Mac OS versions. We have not been able to identify a viable solution that allows us to support Skype calling for Mac beyond the versions supported today (Mac OS 10.4 up to 10.5.6). The Calisto Pro will work with Skype on a Mac if users do not upgrade to 10.5.7 or later versions. This issue does not exist for Calisto Pro users who are using Skype with a PC.

Help? Will the Plantronics Calisto Pro work with my DNS Preferred Version 10.1 for voice recognition?

September 8th, 2009 Dwayne No comments

Q:  I’m looking for a good quality headset for my voice recognition program, DNS Preferred version 10.1, will the calisto Pro bluetooth headset work on the above version or do I need DNS wireless version.

A:  Yes, you can use the Calisto Pro headset with the Dragon software, and I think that DNS and Plantronics even put together a retail package that included the Calisto Pro headset and a BUA-100 bluetooth adapter with the DNS software.  If your pc already has Bluetooth then you can just use the Bluetooth headset, if it doesn’t you will need a USB Bluetooth adapter such as the Plantronics BUA-100.
