The Calisto P240 handset is a slim line design that will fit nicely in your hand. It is smaller than most cordless phone handsets, but larger than most mobile phones. You can add a desktop stand that provides storage options for in-office use. The handset has  controls at your fingertips; like an on/off button , mute control, 12-key dial pad, speaker phone,  LCD screen for easy call ID viewing and menu navigation, just to mention a few.

The Calisto P240 handset has excellent audio quality using wideband and a noise-canceling microphone that offers the best PC audio available. SoundGuard provides protection against audio spikes.  With its built-in duplex personal speakerphone it offers a high quality audio experience and hands-free convenience.

The USB cord is simply a plug and play for easy use. The handset is powered by a USB connection and does not require batteries to operate. The handset comes with its own protective carrying case, and with its slim portable design, it will easily fit into a laptop bag for the times you need to be on the go.

Training Adapter (03929-63): The training adapter ships with its own cord. The cord plugs into the end of the training adapter where you see the word TEL. This cord should not be traded out for a longer cord.  On the other end of the adapter there is an A jack and a B jack, this is where your wireless headsets will be plugged in.

Setting up the first wireless headset:

Note:  Some phones also have a HEADSET jack, if you have a HEADSET jack on your phone, do not plug this training adapter into it, the adapter will not work.  It must be plugged into the HANDSET jack for people to be able to hear you.

Step 1: On your phone, unplug the cord that is in the handset jack, (this cord comes from the wireless headset charging base).

Step 2: Take the cord you just unplugged from the phone’s handset jack and plug it into the A jack on the training adapter.

 Step 3: Take the cord plugged into the training adapter next to the word TEL and plug it into the now empty handset jack on your phone.

You now have your primary wireless headset attached to the training adapter.

Setting up the second wireless headset:

Step 1: Take the cord from the second wireless base (this is the cord that would normally be plugged into the telephone) and plug it into the B jack on the training adapter.  Note: On the underside (older units) or back side (newer units) of the wireless charging base, there is a picture of a telephone, the cord coming from this jack is the one you will plug into the B jack on the adapter.

Step 2: Make sure you have the power adapter for the second headset plugged into the charging base and the other end plugged into a wall outlet or power strip.  The power indicator lights should be visible on both bases.

To configure the settings on the wireless training adapter:

On the training adapter where the single wire is coming from, next to TEL, there is a slider switch with two positions, 1 & 2, make sure the switch is sitting under number 2 when using two wireless headsets.

On the top of the training adapter there are two buttons for muting.  A is for the wireless headset plugged into the A jack and B is for the wireless headset plugged into the B jack.  When the button is up, that headset can be heard, when the button is pushed down, that headset is muted.  You can configure the headsets either way for talking or listening purposes.  This is also a great way to make a conference call with colleges.

Testing for a dial tone:

 Note: If you are not using an HL10 handset lifer, you will first need to take the handset out of the cradle and sit it off to the side of your phone to get a dial tone.  Turn on the headset plugged into A, you should have a dial tone, turn on the second headset, it should also have a dial tone.  You are now ready to start using your training adapter.

Products for 4-Wire Applications

Corded Solution: For a corded solution for a 4-wire application let’s start with the Plantronics P10 (29362-01) amplifier.  This amplifier will work on any operator console, PBX or ACD. Its volume & automatic gain controls lets you adjust the volume to a level that is comfortable for you.  Any of Plantronics H-series headsets will work with the P10.  Please note with 4-wire systems the user will need to use a foot pedal or the button on the console to toggle between the radio and telephone.

Wireless Solution: If you would like to use a wireless headset (like the CS55) you will need a Plantronics 18709-01 (PJ327).This is a 2-Prong to Modular Adapter that plugs into the console, then the wireless headset plugs into the PJ327.  Just keep in mind you cannot answer remotely by using your wireless headset. You must answer on your system first, then push the button on your wireless headset to take the call. Once you have the call, you now have up to a 300’ or 350’ range (depending on which wireless unit you are using) from the base of the Plantronics wireless system, and you are hands free.

Products for 6-Wire Applications

Corded Solution:  A corded solution for a 6-wire application would be the SHS1890 PTT (push to talk) Amplifier, it is offered in three different lengths 10, 15, or 25 feet. This adapter lets you toggle between your console and phone with just a push of a button. You will also need to choose an H-series headset to use with the CA12CD to complete the set-up.

If you prefer to go wireless, then the CA12CD might be the choice for you.  This system comes with a dual battery pack and two charging wells; one for the remote unit, while the other facilitates charging the extra battery pack (supplied with unit).  It runs on DECT 1.9 GHz. It has a push-to-talk amplifier for 6-wire applications, and a 2-prong PJ-7 connector (equivalent to WE-425).  It has Digital (DECT™) technology operating in the 1.9GHz radio band to provide superior voice clarity and security.  Lithium-Ion battery packs provide longer talk time (approximately 8 hours) and faster recharge rates.  Just a note here, Plantronics recommends using the first battery for the first half of a shift and then replacing it with a fresh battery for the second half, this will prolong the life of the batteries.  It also has a robust PTT switch with selectable locking/non‐Locking operational modes. The push-to-talk amplifier has a quick disconnect feature to be used with the Plantronics H Series headsets.  The CA12CD comes with a 1-year warranty.  The H-series headsets have a 2-year warranty.

HDI’s wireless training adapter can be used on a wide range of Plantronics wireless and corded products. Note: I’m not sure if other brands of headsets will work with this wireless training adapter, as Plantronics is the only brand we sell. In most scenarios the training adapter plugs into the HANDset Jack on your phone.

It’s just a push of a button to switch back and forth between your computer and your office phone. You can choose to use the handset or the headset.  For use on office phone: Just keep in mind, to answer or place a call on your office phone when using the headset you will need to lift the phone’s handset off the cradle and place it on your desk, then place the handset back in the phone’s cradle  when you are finished with your call.  Also note: The Switcher amplifier is not designed to work on telephones that have the dial pad in the handset or on cordless telephones.
