PROBLEM: What do you have that is wireless and will work with my cordless phone and/or office phone at home?

SOLUTION: Plantronics CS55H wireless headset would be the perfect fit for your type of phones. It is made especially for single line cordless phones, but can also be used with a single line corded phone. This system will only work with single line telephones.

The Plantronics CS55H Home Edition is a little different than your typical Plantronics wireless units, the CS55H comes with an adapter module (TR1) which allows you to plug the headset system into a wall jack instead of the jack on your phone.

You can plug the Plantronics CS55H wireless headset into any wall jack in your home regardless of where the cordless phone is plugged in, as long as all of your wall jacks are on the same phone line. If you are using a mixture of cordless and corded phones (like an office phone) in your home, this unit will still work for you. When you want to use the corded phone to make a call, you will need to press the button on the headset to turn it on, then pick up the handset and take it out of the cradle to dial out just like normal. Once you hear the ring in your headset, just hang up your phone. If you want to make a call from the cordless phone, it is basically the same procedure. Turn on your headset, then grab your cordless phone and dial out like normal. Once you hear the ring in your headset, just turn off the cordless phone. And to end a call for either scenario, just press the same button on the headset again to turn the headset off and end the call.

The best thing about the Plantronics CS55H wireless headset is that you can answer from anywhere in your home with just your headset, you will not need your cordless handset to answer incoming calls. You will have hands free freedom up to 300 ft distance and the system gives you up to 10 full hrs of talk time. With just one touch of the button you can answer or end calls. The CS55H is a convertible headset, you will receive both ear loops and a headband, so you can choose the style you would like to use. The headset also has volume and mute control features. There are volume controls on the charging base also for fine tuning. The microphone is noise cancelling to filter out background noise. The CS55H will also work with the Avaya Partner 18D and 34D telephones system allowing remote answer and hang-up without the use of the HL10 handset lifter.

What are the benefits of the Plantronics Savi Office Headsets compared to other Plantronics wireless units?

Benefits: The Savi family headsets offer the latest technology from Plantronics. These units integrate your desk phone and PC or your PC and cell phone with one wireless headset. The more popular model in the family of Plantronics Savi Office headsets is the WO100, this unit is installed on your desk phone and PC. Now you can listen to your music in-between your calls, talk over the internet using VoIP software such as Skype or listen to instructional videos without disturbing others around you. It gives you up to 350 ft range with 9 hrs of talk time. Up until now the most distance you could get out of a Plantronics wireless system was 300 ft. You will receive PerSono Suite software to manage your Savi unit on your desk top. The headset is very light weight and comes with an earloop and a headband. It offers a noise canceling microphone so you sound crisp and clear while on the phone. It provides a mute feature and volume controls, the base also has volume controls for your mic and your hearing needs. You can pair up to 4 headsets with one base for easy conference calling and mix the calls from your PC and phone. In the PerSono Software you will find adjustments for the amount of battery life you will be using throughout the day for your environment and distance needs. Keep in mind that the high range for distance will use more battery life and low range will provide the most battery life for your Savi headsets.

The WO200 is another popular Plantronics Savi Office headset model for your desk phone and PC. The headset is an over the ear piece with earbuds that come in different sizes. This unit also provides you with up to 350 feet distance, with 6 hours of talk time (I put my headset back on the charger at lunch time and I have plenty of talk time to get me through my day). Other than the talk time and headset, it offers the same high-end features as the WO100.

Problem: I cannot find Plantronics headset accessories for my headset on your webpage. What is the best way to find them and how can I order?

Solution: We carry most accessories for all of our Plantronics headsets. There are two ways to find your Plantronics headset accessories on our web page. If you know your part number, just use the Google search on the top left hand side of our web page. After you click search you will see a list of links, most times you will click on the first link and the next page will show you a picture of your part. If you do not know your part number, the best way to find the accessories for your headset is to click on the category type that your headset is, like corded, wireless or Bluetooth. Find the picture of your headset and click on that link, and then scroll toward the bottom of the screen. If we carry Plantronics headset accessories for your headset, you will see them listed. You can then click on the part numbers (if there is a link) and open up a separate page for that part, most WebPages have a picture of the product.

You can place your order on line at our secure website or give us a call and we will take the order over the phone. We ship UPS Ground for standard deliveries to anywhere in the United States. We also offer two day and overnight delivery if needed. We use UPS because they guarantee delivery and your package is traceable. We can also ship on your UPS or Fed Ex account number if you would prefer. We are always looking for ways to improve our website, so any feedback would be welcome.

Problem: I bought a CS55H wireless headset system for my cordless phone at home. I love this unit and I don’t want to give it up but I’m switching over to a multiple line corded phone. I can’t afford to buy a new wireless system, so I was wondering if this unit would work on my new phone and if not, is there anything that will convert it over to work on my new phone?

Solution: Yes, you can use this unit on your new phone. If you are using a single line phone you will use the CS55H wireless headset system the same way you are on your cordless phone. If you are using a multiple line phone then you would need to do this step: First you will take off the modular adapter that came with the CS55H; this is called a TR1 and is plugged into your phone jack in the wall. You will use the same cord that is plugged into the TR1, to plug into your handset jack on your phone. This cord is coming from the base of the CS55H and is plugged into the jack with a picture of a phone above it. If you look at the TR1, you will see that one end has two cords coming out of it, one cord is hardwired into the modular (it cannot be removed) and the other one can be removed. Take the cord that you can remove out of the TR1 and place it into the handset jack on your phone. Plug your handset cord into the base of the CS55H.

Now you can use your original CS55H wireless headset system on your new phone. If you are using a multiple line phone and want to be hands free, you will need to purchase a handset lifter (sells for $68.00). With the lifter you will be able to answer your phone with just a push of a button on your headset. If not, all you will need to do is pick up the handset and move it to the side of your phone every time you want to take or make a call. When you are done with the call place the handset back in the cradle and turn off your headset. So now you are back in business without spending a lot of money, if any.

Problem: Do you offer any way to train a new employee if we are using wireless headsets or a mixture of wireless and corded headsets?

Yes, we do carry a wireless headset training adapter (part number 03929-63). This unit was developed and designed by Headsets Direct and sells for only $39.95. Prior to the Wireless Headset Training Adapter, training required both users to sit next to each other while using corded headsets. With this unit you can have two people on the phone at the same time and in two different locations while your trainee is listening in to the conversation (headset has to be within range of base and both bases will be on one desk connected to one phone). The wireless headset training adapter also works great for conference calls and it is a great device for an individual that wants the freedom and mobility of a wireless headset while monitoring a new trainee. Also works great for companies that are running multiple shifts, because you are able to have two or more wireless headset systems connected to the telephone at the same time. However if you are using a handset lifter, you will need to plug it into whichever individual’s headset system that is being used to work properly. So while using one wireless unit, the other unit can be charging for the second shift users (very popular with hospitals).

Wireless Solutions: Most of the Plantronics wireless systems will work, like the older CA10/CS10, CS50 or newer CS55, CS351N, CS361N, CS70N or the 510S, (CT12, CT14 and the CalistoPro are not compatible with the wireless training adapter). This training adapter is compatible with the new Savi wireless systems, just make sure both of the Savi bases are on setting A. Simply plug two wireless systems into the wireless training adapter. There are two mute buttons on the top of the adapter; either or both microphones can be muted with a push of a button to provide listen-only capabilities, so basically whatever configuration you might need. Use setting 2 on the back of the training adapter for this configuration.

Corded Solutions: You are not limited to wireless headsets when using this training adapter, most of Plantronics corded headsets along with a Plantronics vista amplifier will work with the wireless training adapter. You can also use one wireless headset system and a vista amplifier along with an H-series headset. Plug a wireless unit into “A” and any of the older or newer vista amplifiers into “B”. The training adapter needs to be on setting 2 on the back of the training adapter for this configuration.

Corded Headset Systems Solutions: If you have an office system like an S10, S11, S12, T10 or T20 in your office, the wireless training device will work just fine with those units as well. Leave your unit plugged into the phone (as is) and plug the wireless training adapter into the headset jack on your base, then plug two headsets into the wireless training adapter A & B. You will use setting 1 on the back of the training adapter for this configuration, because you are using two headsets with one base.

Problem: We have quite a few 911 centers calling and asking about wireless headsets for their consoles.

Solutions: One of the first questions we ask our customers is: are you using a 4 wire or 6 wire application?

If you are using a 4-wire application and would like to use a wireless system, the first thing you will need is a Plantronics 18709-01 (PJ327) this is a 2-Prong to Modular Adapter. (Headsets Direct sells them for $19.95). With this adapter you can now choose a wireless system of your choice. Like the CS55, CS70N, CS351N or CS361N. Just keep in mind you cannot answer remotely by using your wireless system. You must answer on the console first then push the headset button on your wireless system to take the call. Once you have the call, you now have up to a 300’ range from the base of the Plantronics wireless system and you are hands free.

If you are using a 6-wire application, the CA12CD wireless headset is the choice for you. You will also need to choose an H-series headset to use with the CA12CD wireless headset base. There are many choices of headsets to choose from on the Headsets Direct website. This system comes with a dual battery pack and two charging wells; one for the remote unit while the other facilitates charging the extra battery pack (supplied with unit). It runs on DECT 1.9GHz. It has a push-to-talk amplifier for 6-wire applications and a 2-prong PJ-7 connector (equivalent to WE-425) It has Digital (DECT™) technology operating in the 1.9GHz radio band to provide superior voice clarity and security. Lithium-Ion battery packs provide longer talk time (approximately 8 hours) and faster recharge rates. Just a note here, Plantronics recommends using the first battery for the first half of a shift and then replacing it with a fresh battery for the second half. This will prolong the life of the batteries. It also has a robust PTT switch with selectable locking/non‐Locking operational modes. The push to talk amplifier has a quick disconnect feature to be used with the Plantronics H Series headset tops. The CA12CD wireless headset comes with a 1year warranty. The H-series headsets have a 2 year warranty.

Solution: The Plantronics 510S Bluetooth Headset will work with your office phone and your Bluetooth device, such as a Bluetooth cell phone. This system will answer either phone that is ringing but it will not allow you to switch back and forth between the two phones without ending the current call you are on first. At the office you will use your charging base to charge the headset. The Plantronics 510S Bluetooth headset also comes with an AC charger for charging the 510 headset at home or you can pick up different charging adapters for the 510 headset. The headset folds up for quick and easy storage. There is also a carrying case for the headset for when you want to tuck it away in your pocket or purse. The case is sold separately for $14.95. Headsets Direct carries all the 510S accessories if you find yourself needing anything else. The base of the Plantronics 510S Bluetooth headset will also let you link a different Bluetooth to it, so you are not limited to the 510 headset. It is very unique this way. Just keep in mind; you can only have 2 devises linked to the base at any one time. The Plantronics 510S is a Bluetooth device, so you will only have 33’ distance from the office phone or your cell phone. The unit gives you 6 hrs of talk time throughout your day. It comes with a one year warranty.

Problem: I have a few wireless Plantronics CS70N and CS70 bases but the headsets are no longer working. Is there a replacement battery for the headsets or a replacement headset for the CS70? If you offer a replacement for either of these, how much do they cost?

Solution: Unfortunately, Plantronics chose not to use a replaceable battery in either of the CS70 or CS70N headsets. So after the life of the battery dies, the headset is no longer of any use to you. I know it seems like a waste but that is the way Plantronics designed the headsets.

Plantronics no longer manufactures the CS70 or a replacement headset for that system but you can use the replacement headset for the Plantronics CS70N, part number 27910-01, on your CS70. This is a noise canceling headset; it will get rid of a big percentage of your back ground noise, unlike the CS70 headset which is a voice tube model. It is the same wearing style that you use with the CS70.

The Plantronics CS70N replacement headset sells for $179. Headset Directs offers a 60 day money back guarantee on all the Plantronics wireless replacement headsets. Just remember that you will need to pair your replacement headset to the CS70 base. Our web page offers instructions and pictures on how to pair the base and headset. If you think the price on the replacement headset is too expensive, you can purchase a new CS70N starting at $240. If you need additional help, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at 800-914-7996.

Using a Plantronics Wireless Headsets in Tech Support Center.

Problem:

I have been tasked to obtain Plantronics wireless headsets to test in our network tech support center. This is what I need the wireless headsets to accomplish:

Noise cancelling microphones

Great sound quality on both sides

Good battery life (at least ten hours)

Changeable batteries (after life of battery has died)

Remote answer and hang up from the headset

Solution: Headsets Direct carries three Plantronics wireless systems that will meet your requirements: all three will give you up to 10 hours of talk time. They all have noise cancelling microphones. The wireless systems provide you with multiple volume adjustments on the charging base and on the headset for great sound quality on both sides. The batteries can be replaced for $39.95 (there are instructions on our webpage to help you change out the batteries if needed).

The CS55 (our most popular Plantronics wireless headset) price starts at $225. This unit comes with a headband and different size ear loops, so you have two different wearing styles to choose from. The CS351N is a true headband model, one ear is covered and the headband cannot be changed out. It is a heaver headband than the CS55’s. The ear cushion is a little larger than the CS55’s to block out more noise. This unit starts at $240. The CS361N is a dual ear headset; both ears are covered for that noisy environment you may be in. This unit starts at $254. All three of these systems come with a one year warranty.

For remote answering and hanging up from the Plantronics wireless headset you will need an HL10 handset lifter which sells for $68. This device will work on most office phones.

Problem:

I am looking for a Plantronics headset for my desk model T7316 phone from Nortel networks. What I need is a headset where I can hear my own voice so I know how loud I am speaking. Either corded or wireless and the more sound blocking from outside noise would be great. I need a range of prices, if possible.

Solution:

Headsets Direct has a great selection of Plantronics corded headsets and wireless units that are compatible with your Nortel T7316 phone that will certainly help you. If you would like a corded setup, you will need to start with an A10 cord (66268-02), which sells for $44.95. Any of our H-series headsets will work with this A10 cord. One of the headsets I highly recommend is the Plantronics HW291N selling for $103. This unit has a high-frequency wideband that will ensure crystal clear calls. It has an ultra-lightweight design and leatherette ear cushions. You will only have one ear covered (so you can hear your own voice), this headset has a noise canceling microphone for loud background noises (will get rid of about 75% of the noise). The HW291N has an extendible boom for placement of the microphone for better clarity. Price wise, on the lower end, you might want to look at an H251N which sells for $76.50, one ear covered, adjustable boom but not extendible. It ships with foam ear cushions.

You can use any of the Plantronics wireless headsets with the HL10 handset lifter on your phone. Our most popular unit is the CS55 which sells for $225. This unit has what Plantronics calls a convertible headset, you will receive ear loops (3 different sizes) and a light weight headband for your choice of wearing styles. It is noise canceling. The CS55 gives you 300′ of distance and 10 hours of talk time. The HL10 handset lifter sells for $68 which will give you remote answering when away from your phone. You might want to look at the CS351N; this is a true headband style headset. The headband is not detachable like the CS55 unit and it weighs a little more. It is also noise canceling with 300′ distance and 10 hrs of talk time. Sells for $240.
