In an announcement from Plantronics the Polaris line of headsets will be discontinued in August 2008. This line was initially designed for Northern Telecom phones and the purchase of a Polaris headset included a bottom cable instead of needing an amplifier. Without an amplifier, you saved money and space on your desk. Other phone manufacturers such as GE, Mitel, NEC, Polycom and Toshiba migrated to this headset solution as well. Going forward after August 2008, you will need to use the standard Plantronics H-series headset with an A10 bottom cable (66268-03). Same result and function at the Polaris solution, but now by using the standard headsets, they will be much more readily available.

Replacement Product:

Plantronics H-Series Headsets
A10 Cable/Cord (part #66268-03)

Plantronics has announced that the Supra line of headsets will be discontinued August 15, 2008. This was the model that put Plantronics on the map for call center and business headsets. This will affect the H51, H61, H51N, and H61N models. If you have been using the H51 model, you will need to either stock up on spare units or consider migrating to the new SupraPlus H251 version. The sound quality is better and the style of the H251 appears more modern. The price will be the same for the newer model or even slightly less with most dealers. It will be sad to see the Supra go but you will now have a newer looking, better sounding, less expensive solution with the SupraPlus.
