Plantronics H91N Encore Headset and M12 Amplifier plugged into Partner Phone

PHONE : A headset will work with most single-line and multi-line telephones.

AMPLIFIER : The headset amplifier has a modular connection which replaces
your handset (1) on your phone.  Your handset then plugs into the
amplifier (2).  When your amplifier is off, you talk through your
handset.  The amplifier is powered by 2 AA batteries.  It has a
speaker volume, microphone volume and mute button.  A
coiled cord (stretches to 10' feet) comes from the amplifier (3)
and ends in a unique connection called a Quick Disconnect™ (4).

HEADSET : The headset has a matching Quick Disconnect™ (4)
to plug into the amplifier cord.  Headsets come in a
                    variety of styles.

When choosing a headset, there are two factors to consider:

First, is your environment.  The louder your environment, the better a headband model will perform when compared to an over-the-ear model. Second, is your personal preference.  Some people prefer the more secure fit of a headband model, while others want an over-the-ear model which is light weight and low profile.

In louder environments, a noise canceling headset will reduce up to 75% of the background noise.  This enables the person you're talking with, to better hear and understand your voice. Noise canceling headsets are designed for larger offices with employees in close proximity to one another.

OTHER HEADSET INFORMATION:

On many telephones, you may be required to remove your handset for each call and then place your handset back in the cradle to hang-up your call.  This is not headset/amplifier related, but how your phone operates.  By using a phone with on-hook dialing or an amplifier with a handset lifter can solve this problem.   Wireless headsets will also use a handset lifter for remote operation.

There are different amplifiers for different phone systems and different applications.  The modular amplifier is the most common, but a better solution may exist.  Please call with any questions regarding compatibility.

Telephones with headset ports are becoming more popular and are easily compatible with phone headsets.  This allows the user to use a Non-amplified headset.  The advantage is you save money compared to the traditional amplifier and headset.  The disadvantage is that you lose the ability to control your outgoing voice volume.

Cordless telephones and cellular phones that have a 2.5mm connection are headset ready and don't require an amplifier.  A few headset models have the 2.5mm connection or you can select any of the standard models and use a 2.5mm patch cord.
